“AM I PERFECT?”

We are perfect people. Exactly as we come. From the ends of our hair all the way down to our toes. Our features: both ones that we favor and ones we deem imperfected are right where they need to be. The body that the creator blessed us with is what makes us unique. Our parents came together as the best artists to create a masterpiece. That masterpiece is YOU.

I can’t pinpoint it now but somewhere in the past I believe we became consumed & glued to expectations, standards, status, and social norms. So much so that people will pick on you because of your looks, color, body type, or the possessions that you have. We compare ourselves to people we think “scream” perfect, beautiful, handsome, or successful and consequently this makes us look at ourselves as not enough. This leads me to believe that the criticism and judgement that we receive from our peers and ourselves as kids leads us to want to change or add onto our body as we get older in order to “fit in”. May I add the fact that we can only see in others what we see in ourselves so unfortunately that means we do these things to fit into a crowd that lacks love of self. Also, if I wasn't raised to believe that I am perfect then how would I believe that there aren’t at least a few things that I can change about myself? If anything I've heard the saying “nobody is perfect” more in my life than “you are perfect”. And to be clear I'm not speaking about actions because I know it's human to make mistakes which would deem us not perfect, I am talking about who we are and how we come. My last point is this: If we deem the creator as perfect & that we are created in their image and likeness, how could we not in turn be perfect? Maybe I am thinking too deeply into this but maybe I'm not. My question to you is what would a society look like free of comparison & full of self love?
